What a cool week this is turning out to be! Last evening's Week of Thankfulness activity was awesome...we read Ephesians 1 and learned about what Spiritual Blessings are. Then we all took turns talking about what Spiritual and Material Blessings we have to be thankful for. We had a long list!
The Lord gave us another idea for Thankful Thanksgiving week too. Since we were talking about all of our material blessings last night, Scott and I decided that it would be a great week for our family learn about what sacrificial giving means. So, beginning today, each day we will have a category of things we will be going through, and deciding what we can give away to some of the outreach ministries in our town. Today was books: we all went through our books and each picked around a dozen or so to give away. I told the kids it was ok to give away a few that they've outgrown, but some of the books need to be ones that are sacrificial to give...ones that they still enjoy, but know that another person will enjoy just as much. It is HARD! But I was very proud of the kids for trying hard to think of things that they could give sacrificially. I'm hoping that practice will continue to make that easier, and cultivating grateful hearts will help their future giving to begin to be out of hearts of love.
Today I am thankful:
-that God is full of great ideas
-that Laura will return home from Guatemala tonight
-that our kids are funny and full of life
-that my prayer partner is safely home from Nepal
-that God is a great protector
-that my teaching day was very short today
-that Thanksgiving will include many great friends
-that we have extra famlly time this week
...off to watch a movie with the kids! :)

We sure have much to be thankful for don't we? It's neat that your kids are at a good age to do things like this. It must be really fun! I'm looking forward to hearing what the Lord does with your little people. Each one so unique and full of life!! Awesome! Miss you and I love seeing how you are pursuing with your music. I'm also excited to see how the Lord will use that! Much to be thankful for!!! Miss you!
