Worship Series #3:Week of Thankfulness, Day 1

Psalm 95:1-2 says this:

O come, let us sing for joy to the LORD,
Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation.
Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving,
Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.

My Worship series will shift gears this week, as my own act of Worship. Since this week is Thanksgiving, I want to share little bits of the "Week of Thanksgiving" my family is celebrating together. Each day of this week, we will be doing little exercises together as a family to help us to cultivate thankful hearts, and to recognize all we have to be thankful for. I got a great resource for this over here from a blog of someone we know, whose writing is profound and inspiring to read.

Week of Thankfulness, Day 1

Today I am thankful for many things:

- the Lord led us to focus on our gratitude with our kids this week
- it was awesome listening to Grace, age 5, sound out words in the Book of Colossians tonight
- it was fantastic to start the week in Colossians....one of my favorite books!
- there was something incredible about listening to Morgan, age 7, reading the words "giving thanks to the Father, who qualified you to share in the inheritance of the Kingdom of Light"....and then listening to him verbally figure out what it means to go from the Kingdom of darkness to the Kingdom of Light.
- it was awesome hearing Mackenzie, age 9, help his brother and sister understand some of the bigger words in the Scripture, yet still have simple and beautiful things to be thankful for, like our family of 5.

- I loved the silliness of our family, piled on the carpet in the kids' room, reading the Bible together, laughing together, talking about pilgrims and indians, and family and the Lord....together cultivating gratitude in our hearts. These times are so special.

As an act of Worship, in this worship series, I want to raise the roof with shouts of praise and thanksgiving. Thank you Lord for directing us in this way. Help us to be passionate and proactive about thanking You for every good thing.
