What to say...?

Wow! It's 3 weeks since I've posted! What's to say...?

It officially looks like spring today, Praise the Lord! When I get jealous of people who live in warm places, I have to remind myself (again) that God sovereignly called us here. Then I can handle the 6-month winter. But today, there is sun, bird-songs and mud everywhere. It smells good!

We made a semi-emergency trip to Halifax last week, to be with Scott's Grampa, who had to have a watermelon-sized tumor (no joke!) removed from his bowel. He came through the surgery remarkably well, especially for an 86 year old, and we know that many prayers were answered. Scott had great opportunities to talk with Grampa about the Lord, now we're praying that the Holy Spirit will continue to work on his heart.

Ummmm...we held our first Psalmist's Night at our Church last night. It is amazing to me just how many people in our church are writers (of poetry, prose, and song). It has been said before that a Psalmist's anointing rests on the place, and there is no denying that their is a powerful anointing on many of the writings that have come from people in our congregation. So last night we held a worship night, where we combined corporate worship with the introduction of about a dozen new songs, and some new poetry. We all took opportunity to either share the Scripture that our writings came from, or to share the story of how the Lord gave us these particular things. It was very powerful. I know that you will be seeing much coming in the future from our Worship department. Stay tuned!

Speaking of new music, I recently entered some of my songs into a couple of National Christian Songwriter Competitions...I was very interested to get some feedback from some Christian Music Industry professionals. I was very pleased that in one competition, my song "Refuge" got an honorable mention, placing in the top 40, and got some excellent feedback. I was doubly excited that my song "Fly" placed in the top 10. I will be heading to Virginia in late June to compete in the finals of that competition. Not only am I excited about the prospect of winning some studio time, but I am really looking forward to hooking up with some other songwriters from across the country. I believe I've shared here before that I know that the Lord has called me to write new songs of praise, and that He specifically wants to put them into peoples' hands, to give others new songs to sing to Him. While I don't think that the path necessarily leads toward a performance career for me, I definitely see it unfolding as a songwriter/worship leader path. I'm excited to see what the Lord intends to do through this competition. Who knows what He's up to?

And, by the way...rememeber the Beast of Pent-up Creativity? It has been unleashed, many thanks to my lovely MacBook Pro. Finally the orchestra/band that is within my body is coming forth. Never before have I found such satisfaction in something that I do. Stay tuned.

I have felt a little far from Him lately, with the flurry of activity, and the emergency travel. But, just as I sat and typed about Him, I felt Him with me. He never leaves, nor forsakes. I need to go on a God-date. It's time to re-fix my eyes on the One who gave me breath.

Wow, how is it even possible to fit a watermelon in your bowels? But I'm glad he came through well. And congrats on your songwriters success, and hopefully for more to come!

I would love to hear some of your music. Can you post a lead sheet or something like it? I'm so excited for your exciting prospects! Unleashing the beast is a good thing...you should share the beast with the blog world.
