It flew by as I loved loving and relaxing with my family, immediate and extended. It sped by as I sang my guts out in a studio downstate. It raced by as I stood by my husband at his ordination, taking mental snapshots of this special moment. It flew by as I felt the sun inspire my skin to brown. It flew by as I took long strokes with my oar in my kayak out on the lake. It flew past as I sped across the lake as fast as I dared go on a seadoo. It raced by as I read stories and played Barbies and parade with my niece, nephew and cousins. It flew by in laughter and the giggles from little bellies. It sped along as I painted 30 little toenails and 30 little fingernails in alternating colors. It flew by as I had once-in-a-year in-person chats with my sister as we cooked and cleaned and played with our kids together. It ran along as we celebrated our parents' 40th Wedding Anniversary. It soared past while we collected starfish, razor clams and hermit crabs. It rushed on as I cooled my feet in pools, lake and sea, and as I flew a kite high above the sandbar. It sped by as I reconnected with friends from long ago, and as I reminisced, loving being back home in my home city. It flew by as I sadly contemplated, again, why our family is so spread out across this vast continent, and as I asked the Lord, again, to help me to recognize and appreciate the family He has given me here.
It flew and yet I captured each moment. Time flies when you're having fun...be alive in every moment of every day.
